ACTIVITES:

FIELD TRIP

 

Date: 05/03/2024

 

The Department of Commerce has organised a Field Trip for B.Com (CA) II  year students.  Students visited   Reliance Fresh SuperMarket and More Super Market at medak to make comparative study on prices of various commodities available in both and to understand offers & discounts provided by both. Based on the analysis students understood  and drew the conclusion that  both supermarkets offer competitive prices on certain items, each has its strengths and weaknesses in terms of pricing and promotional strategies. 

                         

 

BANK VISIT

The Department of Commerce has organised aTrip for B.Com (CA) III  year  and B.Com (CA) II students.  The lecture under the inchargeship of The Head of the department Ms. P. Chandrika, B, Vijaya Laxmi has organised a visit to State Bank of India located at JN road, Medak on 20th January 2024. The objective of this activity is to create awareness, educate students on access to financial services (banking), availability of various types of services and their features and to make students understand their rights & responsibilities as customers to financial services.

                     

 

NATIONAL COMMERCE DAY

Introduction:

Commerce day is celebrated on 1st Monday of August every year to honour the contributions and sacrifices made by workers everyday. Reaching out to them and expressing gratitude to employees in the neighbourhood can significantly impact their feelings. The Department of Commerce has celebrated National Commerce Day on 7th August 2023. The objective of the event was to spread the word and encourage the participants to show their appreciation for workers' efforts around the world.

Ms. P. Chandrika (HOD) explained the importance of the day and Ms. B. Vijaya Laxmi spoke about career & employability opportunities available in the field of commerce. Following this, all B.Com (CA) III & II year students extended their gratitude to the hygiene workers by engaging in a cleaning drive across the academic building, campus surroundings, kitchen area, and ground.

                  

 

MEDAK CHURCH VISIT

The Department of Commerce has organised a Field Trip for B.Com (CA) III year students. Medak Cathedral at Medak is one of the largest churches in India and has been the cathedral church of the Diocese of Medak of the Church of South India since 1947. Originally built by Charles Walker Posnett Brutusg Weskeyan Methodists it was consecrated on 25th December 1924.The lecture under the inchargeship of The Head of the department Ms. P. Chandrika, B, Vijaya Laxmi has organised a visit to  Medak church, one of the largest churches in India and best tourist spot in India. The objective and purpose  of this visit is that students can study and understand the Promotion of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Medak church in recent decades and to analyse how  there has been increased recognition of the tourism potential of Medak Church as a cultural and historical attraction.

                         

BANK & ATM  VISIT

The Department of Commerce has organised aTrip for B.Com (CA) I year  students.  The Head of the department Ms. P. Chandrika  has organised a visit to HDFC Bank & ATM located at AUTO NAGAR,MEDAK on 15th February 2023. The objective of this activity is to create awareness, educate students on access to financial services (banking), availability of various types of services and their features and to familiarise students with the usage of ATMs, including withdrawing money and making transactions using debit and credit cards.

                         

 

AWARENESS ON DIGITAL LITERACY PROGRAM

Digital literacy plays a vital role in the career development of students. With digital literacy skills, students can move beyond a process-oriented understanding of technology and apply digital resources creatively in their original work. These skills build upon the traditional concept of literacy and support students in using critical thinking skills. Therefore, the Department of Commerce in coordination with the Department of Computer Science organized an Awareness on Digital Literacy program to guide final year students (Batch 2020-2023). On 4th January 2023. 

                        

 

 

GUEST LECTURE

TOPIC: "Measures of Skewness & Kurtosis "

SUBJECT:  Business Statistics -I

TIME: 11am.to 1: 00pm

VENUE: Seminar Hall.

 

The Department of commerce organised a guest lecture on 22nd November 2022, on the  topic:"Measures of Skewness & Kurtosis "for  B. Com  (CA) II & III  students in the subject Business Statistics -I. The eminent speaker Ms. Kalyani Gorti , Lecturer in Commerce from Bhavan’s Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities & Commerce Sainikpuri, Secunderabad. She gave an in depth explanation about the topic.

All B,Com II & III year  students participated in the guest lecture.  They gave good feedback on the lecture and were happy to get their doubts clarified from the guest speaker. 

                        

                       

 

 

INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING DAY

On November 10, 2022, the Department of Commerce marked the occasion of International Accounting Day with a celebration. The primary aim of this event was to illuminate the importance of International Accounting Day to the attendees. Furthermore, it served as a platform to showcase the array of career options and job prospects within the accounting field. The event also delved into the specific skills and qualifications necessary for success in various specialisations within accounting. Discussions encompassed growth projections, salary patterns, and the prevailing demand in the job market for accounting professionals. Ultimately, the event aimed to equip students with the knowledge needed to make well-informed decisions regarding their future career paths in accounting.

                         

 

FIELD TRIP

The Department of Commerce has organised a Field Trip for B.Com (CA) II  year students.  Students visited   Reliance Fresh SuperMarket and More Super Market at medak to make comparative study, a range of commonly purchased provisions including but not limited to groceries, household supplies, and personal care items were selected. Prices of identical or similar products were surveyed at both supermarkets in the same locality or region. The data collected encompassed both branded and generic items to provide a comprehensive understanding of pricing variations.

                          

 

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY 2022

International Day of Democracy 2022 is observed every year on September 15 to mark the significance of democracy , to create awareness among people about their democratic rights and the measures that are taken by the governments to protect these rights.International Day of Democracy is celebrated every year under a particular theme. The theme of International Day of Democracy this year is ‘importance of media freedom to democracy, peace, and delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals'.

The Department of Commerce has taken initiative to organise and conduct events on the day of democracy .

Event 1: Quiz on democracy : 

Total students participated in the quiz 45,they were divided in to  five teams named as Abraham Lincoln, Abdul kalam , Nelson Mandela Sardar Vallabai Patel and Dr.B.R.Ambedkar. Students participated very actively and given feedback in a positive way.

Event 2: Power point presentation by students:

L. Divya Rani and B. Niharika from BZC III gave a presentation on  democratic rights and the role of the Government to protect these rights.

SEMINAR

 

Topic: “Awareness on Financial & employability opportunities provided by SBI Life Insurance.”

The Department of commerce has organised a seminar on “Awareness on Financial & employability opportunities provided by SBI Life Insurance.” for B.Com(CA) III year students on 16th June 2022 from 4:00pm to 5 :00pm. The speaker for the session – Mr. D. Krishnaiah,  Manager of SBI LIfe Insurance , Medak branch. He elucidated the range of financial services offered by SBI Insurance, detailing the diverse array of options available to customers. He provided an overview of the diverse employment opportunities available within SBI Life Insurance, which span across a wide spectrum of roles and responsibilities, accommodating different skill sets and career aspirations. Here's a detailed breakdown of some of the primary avenues for employment within SBI Life Insurance.

The Department of Commerce has organised a Guest lecture on 2/05/ 2022 on the topic"Recording Advanced entire & Migration to ERP" for B.Com (CA) final year students in the subject Theory & Practice of GST. The eminent speaker Dr. M.  Rameshwar Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce,University Post Graduate College, OU, Sec-bad. He gave an in-depth explanation about the topic. 

All B.Com final year students and commerce faculty attended the guest lecture. They gave good feedback on the lecture. Students and faculty enhanced their knowledge in the subject as the speaker has maximum command on the subject.

The Department of Commerce has organised a Field Trip for B.Com (CA) I  year students. The lecture under the inchargeship of The Head of the department Ms. P. Chandrika, B, Vijaya Laxmi has organised a visit to an ATM located at Auto Nagar,Medak on 19th January 2022  as part of an educational initiative to enhance financial literacy and practical knowledge. The objective of the visit was to familiarise students with the usage of ATMs, including withdrawing money and making transactions using debit and credit cards.

The department of commerce has successfully organised a National webinar on  24 th April 2021 on the topic  "Career and Employment Opportunities for commerce students". Resource person Dr. CMA. K. Ch.A.V. S. N. Murthy  gave an excellent explanation about the professional courses CA, CMA &  CS and enlightened students with very good live examples. He focused even on the requirement of accountancy practical knowledge for commerce students  to progress in their career. Resource person Prof. V. Appa Rao explained in depth about maximum  career and employment opportunities available to commerce students, emerging  trends in accounting and importance of technology.

The Department of commerce organised an online guest lecture on 16 th April 2021 on the  topic: "An overview on Indian Contract Act 1872" for all. B. Com students in the subject Business Law. The eminent speaker Dr. S. Kavitha Devi is Senior Assistant Professor in University Post Graduate college, OU. Around 150 students participated in the guest lecture. All B. Com students from our college and other colleges attended the guest lecture.

They gave good feedback on the lecture and were happy to get their doubts clarified from the guest speaker. 

                                 

FIELD TRIP

The Department of Commerce has organised a Field Trip for B.Com first year students.  Students visited   OM Sai Kirana wholesale store and More Super Market at medak to make comparative study on prices of various commodities available in both and to understand offers & discounts provided by More Super Market and method of providing discounts by the OM Sai Kirana Wholesale store.                        

                              

 

ACHIEVEMENTS:

 

  • M. Shailaja B.Com (CA)-II year got selected for attending Startup Mahakumbh at Delhi from March 18th- 20th 2024.
  • R. Siri Rathod B.com(CA) II year got selected for one year Kalinga Fellowship 2022-2023, is a collaborative collective impact global platform on sustainable development Goal5(gender equality). She attended a program from 12th December to 16th December at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Bhuvanneshwar,Orissa.
  • N.Sriharshini B.com(CA) III year got selected for attending Data Science training at TTWR coding Academy Moinabad from 13th February, 2023.
  • Ch.Babitha & M.Shirisha got selected to pursue a short film making course at TTWRDC (W)Shadnagar from 14th November, 2022 to 24th November,  2022
  • Y.Nirmala (Batch 2018-19) secured a seat in TISS & Pursuing MA(Education).
  • Y.Nirmala (Batch 2018-19) received the SR.Sankaran super student live lecture cash prize of rupees 4000 in the year 2018-2019.
