BEST PRACTICE 1 :

SUCCULENT GARDEN :

Succulents are the plants that make the air fresh by releasing fresh oxygen into the atmosphere. So with the contribution of some funds from Mr. B. Ranjith on the memory of his parents succulents were provided along with labels. These were kept as a garden in the botany laboratory by BZC final year students 2023 have protected them year long. This garden was started on September, 2023 on Ozone day. These plants at the end of the academic year were gifted back to the students who took care of them.

KITCHEN GARDENING

Kitchen gardening was started in the year 2019 September. Students sow seeds of Methi, Mint leaves, Coriander  and take care of them all the time. Once the plants are grown they harvest the plants and give them to the kitchen. With this activity students gain patience looking at the growing plants. But students face one problem with the monkeys which always destroy the growing plantlets.

FLORAL GARDEN :

Flowers give a good appearance when around. Such flowering plants are bought and planted during the Swatch gurukulam programme in 2022, September. Now these plants give a special appearance in the campus with beautiful flowers. This practice is taken care of by BZC II year students. Time to time watering of plants and pruning the branches is taken care of by them. From then these plants give a good appearance for the classroom in the B Block.

GREENHOUSE FOR PROJECT WORK

BZC II Year students have constructed a temporary greenhouse for growing plants in growing bags. These plants are observed every day and all the different treatments are given to them. The growth rate is calculated and finally a project report is made by the students which are evaluated in the final examination in the presence of the external examiner. Plants chosen are Green gram, Black gram, Tomato, Spinach and Amaranthus.
