NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

 NSS is an Indian government sponsored programme aimed at public service. It is conducted by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It mainly focusses on the all-round development of students through voluntary community service. It links college with the community /society.

       The scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s centenary year in 1969 with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU,” reflecting the essence of democracy in the country and also need of voluntary selfless social service.

        NSS volunteers works on the issues of social relevance, which keeps evolving in response to the needs of the community, through regular and special camping activities. Such activities include literacy & education, health, family welfare and nutrition, environment conservation, social service projects & disaster management.

    The main objective of NSS at college level is to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among the students.

NSS OF OUR COLLEGE:

NSS unit -I of TTWRDC(W), Devarakonda had established on 19/02/2022 ,by the sanctioning authority - Mahatma Gandhi university, Nalgonda. Our NSS unit – I has intake of 100 volunteers with one programme officer.

Following activities are conducted in our college under NSS:

•     Celebrations of days of national & international importance (National Youth Day, Martyr’s Day, EKTA Diwas, etc).
• Celebrations of birth & death anniversaries of eminent personalities (savithri bai phule, B.R.Ambedkar, Birsa munde, Gandhi jayanthi, Swamy Vivekananda, etc ).
• Awareness rallies (AIDS day, Voter’s Day, LiteracyDay, Cancer Day).
• Medical diagnosis camps, vaccination drive, deworming drive.
• Health awareness sessions by ANM, area asha workers, etc.
• Plantation drive.
• Clean & Green programmes.
• Special counselling sessions through SAKHI, BHAROSA & JAGRUTHI teams etc.
• Community outreach programmes like visiting orphanages, old age homes, etc.
• Organizing 2k run in collaborations with NEHRU YUVA KENDRA, DEVARAKONDA SPORTS ASSOCIATION & HELPING HANDS ASSOCIATION.
• Organizing special summer & winter camps by NSS volunteers in adopted villages.
