Year of Establishment: 2017

Scope and Importance of Chemistry:

  • There are different branches of chemistry: Physical, Organic, Inorganic, Analytical and Biochemistry.
  • It is multidisciplinary course which connects other sciences, such as physics, material science, environmental science, nanotechnology, biology, pharmacy, medicine, bioinformatics and geology.
  • The Chemistry graduates have many career opportunities. Majority of these graduates opt for master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Drug Chemistry, Organic chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Physical & Material Chemistry, Forensic Science. Students have various employment opportunities in reputed research institutes like CSIR -IICT, NCL, TIFR, job options such as Chemist, QA/QC in well-known pharma companies and industries like Dr. Reddy Labs, Hetero, Aurobindo, Divi’s, DRDO, ONGC, HUL and many more.

  • To prepare graduates who may be capable of competing the industrial and economic needs of changing world.
  • To encourage students towards self-employment through chemical science.
  • To improve research perspectives among the faculty.
  • To acquaint faculty and students to latest methodologies and ICT tools.
  • To develop sophisticated research facilities in the laboratory.

  • Lack of interest in the subject among the students.
  • Lack of awareness towards higher education.
  • Poor communication and soft skills in students coming from rural background.
  • No funding for research.
  • Insufficient Industry Academia Interaction.

Opportunities:

  • Interdisciplinary research projects can be carried out.
  • To enhance green measures in the campus.
  • To increase industry academia collaboration.
  • To start certificate courses related to chemistry.

Challenges:

  • Preparing students industry-ready with existing traditional curriculum.
  • Student mind-set towards degree courses.
  • Lack of Interlacing theory and practical knowledge among the students.
