- **24 Spokes**: The wheel has 24 spokes, reflecting the 24 hours of a day, symbolizing the continuous and selfless service that volunteers are encouraged to provide for the welfare of society.

HISTORY:
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on 24th September 1969, marking Mahatma Gandhi's centenary year, to instill the values of selfless service and social responsibility among Indian youth. Inspired by Gandhi’s vision of serving the underprivileged, the scheme initially began as a government initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Before its official inception, various pilot projects in educational institutions demonstrated the feasibility of engaging students in community welfare activities. Over time, NSS evolved into a nationwide movement, with millions of volunteers actively participating in diverse activities such as health camps, disaster relief, environmental drives, and education campaigns. The iconic Konark Wheel in its logo signifies the spirit of continuous progress and commitment to serving society.
