  • ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

       The Department of Microbiology has its inception in the year 2018, with B.SC (MB.Z.C) program under the affiliation of Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar. It has been upgraded with the introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in the year 2022, with B.SC (M.Z.C, M.Z.CS, M.C.CS).

  • The Department of Microbiology provides the students with the scope and opportunities to understand basic and advanced techniques in Microbiology.
  • The faculty (Teaching & lab staff) are well experienced in their respective areas of the subject and have been contributing for the success of the Department.
  • The Department of Microbiology has an excellent infrastructure with well-equipped lab with all necessary instruments for gaining practical knowledge in microbiology.
  • To inculcate research aptitude among the students, projects are designed and supervised in the areas of food, environmental, industrial, applied microbiology.
  • The Department takes pride in organizing seminars, conferences, guest lectures, field trips on a regular basis to inculcate interest on the subject.
  • In our department, teaching is not only a profession but a passion. It has an outstanding academic track record of securing university ranks at state level. Faculty members interact with students and motivates them to pursue higher education.
  •  Faculty members identify the learners’ needs through assessment tests and interaction. Steps are taken to explore the hidden talent and originality among students. 

The department aims to stimulate an interest in the social and economic implications of Microbiology in society.

VISION:

  • To be an excellent resource for providing outstanding knowledge for B.SC Microbiology undergraduates and to develop scientific aptitude, enhancing inter disciplinary education making students competent in choosing their career.

MISSION:

  •     To promote Technically Sound Education in Microbiology Focused for Gaining Proficiency in the Subject to Withstand the Upcoming Global Challenges.
  •     To enhance interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary knowledge and inspire the women to choose their career.
  •    To encourage women to start small scale industries to become entrepreneurs.                                                                           
OBJECTIVES OF LEARNING MICROBIOLOGY AT UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL

 

  • To make students know about importance of microbiology in our day today life and explain how microbes affect our daily lives
  • To inculcate observation capabilities of students thus motivating for research in microbiology.
  • Develop core competencies in microbiology: structure and function, information flow, energy transfer and evolution.
  • To make students aware of recent trends and technologies emerging in the field of microbiology like genetic engineering, transformation, etc.
  • Train students in the laboratory to become competent and proficient in microbiology laboratory skill.
  • Learn to follow experimental procedures, formulate hypotheses, predict results, collect and analyse data, and draw conclusions.
  • Understand microbiology and its role in infection prevention and control, health care-associated infections, and antimicrobial resistance.
  • To make students competent in choosing their career in various branches of microbiology.

  • Internships can be carried out with collaborations.
  • Consultancy services through technical training in medical coding, medical transcription, etc.

  • To raise funds for startups & entrepreneurs.
  • Igniting students minds with the career prospects of microbiology.
  • Dropouts due to family issues.
