Telangana Tribal Welfare Degree College for Girls, Dammapeta is one of the premier residential institutions of TTWRIES, which was established in the year of 2017 to empower the tribal girls from the marginalized sections in accordance with the vision by imparting quality education. The institutionstrives for the overall development of the students through curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. As most of the studentshail from agricultural and daily wages based families, the college has been catering to their needs to educate them for better life, and to empower them with employability skills for independent living. The college focuses on learner autonomy and self sustainability thus emphasizing on the flexibility of curriculum for instance BA and B Com first year students have an option of choosing one AECC course in the first semester and other AECC course in the second semester. Accordingly the flexibility of choosing the courses is available with choosing of the SEC course in second year and DSE course for final year students. Theinstitution follows student centered teaching method that imparts problem solving skills, participative learning and experiential learning.
The college which was started with 03 UG Programmes in 2017 has now grown to offer 06 UG Programmes. The college offers holistic education given equal importance to cognitive, emotional and value based education and thus offers a value based curriculum to teach integrity and accountability to mould the students as ideal citizens of the nation. To keep pace with the 21st century learning strategies, the institution has been laying emphasis on need – based curriculum and use of ICT in teaching.
Hence the institution has established virtual and digital class room and insists on using ICT to offer the virtual experience for best learning procedures. Not only that the institution has introduced many Value Added courses and Certificate Courses to fill the gaps in curriculum and to make education more choice based.
Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man-believing in this ideology; at TTWRDC, GIRLS DAMMAPETA, the faculties are trying to explore the maximum of the students by giving opportunity to involve them in the activity based learning. In this process students are allowed to mix academics with co- curricular activities.
ACADEMICS:
To assess the academic performance and guidance for better results. Once the students are given an opportunity to understand about the institutional operations in the orientation program. Each student is assigned a counselors and each faculty is assigned with around 20 students. During counseling session faculty elicit information from each student and record. Bases on the performance in the I Internal Assessment test. Makeup class work is planned in the courses where the student found week. Based on the end examination result students are offered remedial classes in identified courses where the pass percentage is low. Students are identified as advanced and slow learners. Remedial and makeup classes are offered to the slow learners whereas experimental and project based learning techniques are offered to advanced learners.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Along with curricular inputs the college involves them in different community based activities to bring them closer to life and to teach them responsibility and human values through practical learning. The institution strives for the welfare of women students in all measures and follows several best practices for their welfare.
Faculty monitors the student activity cell where the student groups will take imitative to organize activities of public interest. Activities like plantation, campaign against use of plastic, rally against women harassment are conducted at regular intervals. Activities conducted by NCC/NSS units in association with the village administration.
Imparting Employability Skills
Faculty during counseling sessions identify the specific training needs and based on the interest of the large student groups customized training modules are offered to the students. Conduct of literary competitions, jam sessions, Group discussions, seminars also improves the student communication skills. Mock interview are conducted to the students to prepare them for career oriented opportunities like jobs HE counseling etc.
Carrier Guidance Cell conduct Students gain the knowledge and information about common entrance tests of central and state university for higher studies such as CUCET, IITJAM, CAT, CPGET ICET, etc. PG coaching for various subjects and coaching for employability skills tests conducted on every Sunday. Incitation of CCIP- community college intuitive programmes for UG II Year tribal students-conducting different levels of screening tests on English language proficiency and in offered fields of study. CCI-Program offers study in the following fields:
- Agriculture
- Applied biology
- Business management/admin
- Information technology
- Media
- Public safety
The institution focuses on the building of research temper through class room seminars and study projects and workshops both in curricular and life related aspects to motivate them for further learning, for progression to higher education and for helping them to evolve, as perfect individuals. The institution lays emphasis on ethical values to become an eligible citizen of the world. Many of the alumni of this college have become entrepreneurs, chartered Accountants, Teachers, Principals, Lawyers and Police personnel.
