National Service Scheme (NSS)
RECEIVING APPRECIATION CERTIFICATE AND SILVER MEDAL FROM
HONOURABLE MAGISTRATE SRI RAVI GARU (MBNR)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is primarily geared towards mobilizing the energy and enthusiasm of students and young people towards the betterment of the nation. Rooted in Gandhian principles, it underscores that education is not merely an intellectual pursuit but a means of empowering individuals with a sense of social responsibility. The motto "Not Me, But You" encapsulates the spirit of selfless service, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the welfare of society over personal interests.
NSS aims to achieve several objectives, including fostering a deeper understanding of communities, promoting social and civic responsibility, and nurturing leadership qualities among volunteers. Through voluntary community service, NSS endeavors to cultivate empathy, civic engagement, and the ability to address societal needs and challenges effectively.
Volunteers of NSS typically engage in a variety of activities in villages, slums, and voluntary organizations, with the goal of completing 120 hours of service per academic year. They are expected to immerse themselves in the community, identify its needs and resources, and actively participate in finding solutions to local issues.
The duties of NSS volunteers include building relationships with the community, identifying needs and resources, planning and executing programs, and reflecting on their experiences to contribute meaningfully to community development. Additionally, volunteers are required to maintain records of their activities and adhere to a code of conduct, which emphasizes working under the guidance of designated leaders and refraining from involvement in contentious matters.
Overall, NSS serves as a platform for students to develop their personalities, contribute to social causes, and cultivate a sense of responsibility towards the nation's welfare and its citizens.
